IELTS in Ankara – Are you ready for it?

If you want the right training and support to get your desired IELTS score, we would love to help you. With many past success stories and happy students passing IELTS in Ankara every month, this is one of our most popular study programmes.

Is IELTS the right test for you?

It is the most popular test for both academic study and visa immigration processes. If you are applying to universities, especially in the UK, IELTS is often required.

Is it good value for money?

IELTS was created by The British Council, with Australia's IDP Education and the UK's Cambridge Assessment English. These organizations guarantee the quality and usefulness of the test. As a result, globally each year around 2 million IELTS tests are taken. To make this easy, there are over 1,100 test locations found in 140 countries. To make it as available as possible, there are 48 test dates each year when you can book your exam.

Around the world many thousands of educational institutions, employers, and professional organizations accept IELTS scores. More governments accept IELTS scores for immigration processing than for any other English test. Of course, the university or business you are applying to will determine what level of English you need.

Which IELTS test is right for you?

There are five different IELTS tests in two categories (Visa and Non-Visa), as well as computer and paper-based versions:

  • IELTS Academic - If you are applying to a university or educational institution. It is also used for people seeking professional registration to certain bodies in the UK. Most of our students are aiming for this test, so that is what we focus on in detail below. The relevant UK application is for a Tier 4 Visa (a higher education student visa).
  • IELTS General Training - For people who are seeking employment, work and travel, some forms of secondary education (below degree level, for example vocational or language training) and some visa applications (for example Australia, Canada, New Zealand).
  • IELTS for UKVI Academic - As above but also for UK Visa and Immigration purposes under Tier 1 and Tier 2 visas.
  • IELTS for UKVI General - As above, but also for UK Visa and Immigration purposes Tier 1 and Tier 2 visas.
  • IELTS Life Skills A1 - For the UK only, if you need to prove that you have sufficient English Speaking and Listening skills in support of your application to UK Visas and Immigration for 'family of a settled person' status.
  • IELTS Life Skills A2 - For the UK only, if you need to prove that you have sufficient English Speaking and Listening skills in support of your application to UK Visas and Immigration for extension to 'family, Spouse or Partner' status. Note: This test is only available in the UK already possessing valid visa status in this category).
  • IELTS Life Skills B1 - For the UK only, if you need to prove that you have sufficient English Speaking and Listening skills in support of your application to UK Visas and Immigration for 'indefinite leave to remain or citizenship'. Note: This test is only available in the UK for meeting other key criteria).

IELTS for UKVI - Do you need it?

Probably not. If you are going as a first degree, Master degree or Doctorate, you will be on a Tier 4 Student Visa and UKVI does not apply to you.

But if you are asked to pass the UKVI test, then all you need to know is that

  • You will be supporting a Tier 1 or Tier 2 visa application to the United Kingdom.
  • You must take it at a UKVI approved test centre, and this will be recorded as evidence on your official score report.
  • The content, format, difficulty and scoring of the test is the same as standard IELTS tests for all other purpose.

How is the test scored? There are four sections in the Official IELTS Score Report:

IELTS Listening: 40 questions, one point for each correct answer.
IELTS Reading: 40 questions, one point for each correct answer.

These scores are converted to a half point band, with a maximum score of 9.

IELTS Writing: There are four assessment criteria used to give a score to the writing test.
• Task Achievement (for Task 1), Task Response (for Task 2)
• Coherence and Cohesion
• Lexical Resource
• Grammatical Range and Accuracy
Each of the criteria is given an equal weight, and the average of these four scores gives the IELTS Band Score for Writing.

IELTS Speaking: There are four assessment criteria used to give a score to the writing test.

• Fluency and Coherence
• Lexical Resource
• Grammatical Range and Accuracy
• Pronunciation
Each of the criteria is given an equal weight, and the average of these four scores gives the IELTS Band Score for Speaking.

The four scores are then combined to produce the total IELTS test score.
